Perception is Reality, I think
As I try to restart this blog, it would be appropriate to revist at least two thoughts that were put up here.
The first, of course, is about Saurav Ganguly. I argued that he has to go a couple of months ago and said
"Just hope he has the grace to call it a day on his own so that he does not need to be shown the door " .
It has so happened that our ex-captain had to be shown the door. It was one of the most unceremonious exits from the game in a while and he did not deserve that, but I have a feeling that it was his own making.
The second thing I want to follow up is on this post. I said, quite grudgingly, that there is a perception about Indian graduate students that a trip to India means they are going to get married.
Well, perception is reality, they say. The Indian marriage season started sometime in November and lo and behold! During the last month there are at least nine people I know whose main purpose of a trip to India is to get married/engaged. If I am kind of startled being an Indian, there is no reason to be surprised if Chinese or Americans have this notion about our marriage system.
